Surrounding area
In addition to the beautiful city walks and sailing through the harbours by boat or SUP board, Heusden’s surroundings have numerous places of interest. The Loon and Drunen Dunes National Park is only ten kilometres away and is a must for every nature lover, while the children will keep asking to visit the Efteling theme park.
Walking/cycling
The picturesque streets, ancient pathways, narrow alleyways, many studios and galleries and unique shops make for a wonderful walk. On Sunday afternoons, a multilingual guide will tell you all about the rich history of Heusden. If you cycle from Heusden towards the tall drifting sand dunes of the Loon and Drunen Dunes, you will cycle along the meandering dykes past villages like Drunen and Vlijmen. The area around Heusden has various relaxing bicycle and walking tours.
Relaxing efforts
Choose for adventure and rent a boat or SUP board. Go sailing – towards Nederhemert Castle, for example, or the Esmeer, or the bathing lake the Veense put. Or step almost literally on the water: SUP stands for ‘Stand-Up Paddling’. The boards are large for extra stability. And, should things unexpectedly go wrong, our showers are always available! You will be able to take a seat on our terrace or in our charming restaurant, feeling completely refreshed. You can bet that that drink, lunch or dinner will taste even better!
